Story of Shree Vighneshwar Ozar – Shree Vigneshwar is a form of Lord Ganesha worshipped at the Vigneshwar temple in Ozar, Maharashtra, India. The temple is one of the Ashtavinayak temples, which are eight sacred temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The story of Shree Vigneshwar is as follows:

According to Hindu mythology, a demon named Vighnasura had received a boon from Lord Brahma, which made him invincible to all deities except Lord Ganesha. With his newfound power, Vighnasura began to terrorize the people and the gods.

The gods then approached Lord Ganesha for help. Lord Ganesha, known as the remover of obstacles, decided to take on Vighnasura. A fierce battle ensued between the two, with Vighnasura constantly changing his form to avoid Lord Ganesha’s attacks. Finally, Lord Ganesha managed to subdue Vighnasura and destroy him, thus saving the people and the gods from his tyranny.

Impressed by Lord Ganesha’s bravery and devotion, the gods requested him to stay at Ozar and bless the people with his presence. Lord Ganesha agreed and transformed himself into the Vigneshwar idol worshipped at the temple.

The name Vigneshwar means “the lord who removes obstacles,” and the temple is located in a scenic location amidst the Sahyadri Mountains. The temple is believed to have been built during the reign of the Peshwas in the 18th century CE and is known for its beautiful architecture and intricate carvings.
